ABOUT WHEATGRASS GROWER

Ellen McGlynn, proprietor of Wheatgrass Grower, LLC

Wheatgrass Grower is a private residential micro eco-farm located on two agricultural acres in the rural Waverly area of Clarks Summit, PA.  We have been growing wheatgrass and other nutritional greens for the public since 2005.

WHAT IS A
MICRO ECO-FARM?

Though we currently only offer wheatgrass and specialty greens year-round, we are nurturing our young outdoor gardens so that we may also begin offering small quantities of other naturally-grown herbs and fruits.  Please call in early September to see what we may have available after summer harvest.   OPEN BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, Monday thru Thursday, 10am to 3pm!

Wheatgrass Grower believes in the simplicity of food as medicine and honors this by adopting sustainable growing practices and supporting organizations committed to preserving the culture of our nation's first "medicines."

Wheatgrass Grower is a labor of love on many levels, and we are so grateful for the support of friends and relatives, otherwise known as guest farmers (some who travel continents to get here!) to perform sometimes bone-breaking work, all in exchange for a good meal. We look forward to their arrival every year.

The mission of Wheatgrass Grower is dedicated to the memory of Michael McGlynn who passed away in June 2003 from metastatic melanoma. At the time of his passing, Michael owned and operated the General Lafayette Inn near Philadelphia.  He purchased the 1732 inn and supervised its restoration, at the same time preserving an historic corner of a town that was once a Revolutionary War battle site.  Because of this and other conservation-minded involvements, including a 25-acre 18th Century farm site, Michael will always be remembered for his role as a strong community environmentalist and preservationist.  He is the reason Wheatgrass Grower exists and the daily inspiration that fills our gardens and our home.  He is also the reason you may find interesting Colonial heirloom fruits and vegetables in our gardens.
